The beloved Indio International Tamale Festival returns for its 33rd annual celebration on December 6–7, 2025, at Miles Avenue Park in Indio, 10am - 7pm each day. Once recognized by the Guinness World Records as the Largest Tamale Festival, this cherished event continues to bring together food lovers, families, and visitors from across Southern California and beyond to celebrate culture, flavor, and community.
Celebrating Tradition and Flavor
For more than three decades, the festival has been a proud Indio tradition, spotlighting the culinary artistry and heritage of tamales. Dozens of tamale vendors will once again compete for the coveted title of Best Tamale in three categories: Traditional, Vegetarian, and Sweet.
“Our festival celebrates the heart of the season — delicious food, family, and togetherness,” said Raffi Frensley, Marketing Manager for Pickering Events. “The tamale connects generations and remains a symbol of culture, love, and community pride here in Indio.”

What to Expect in 2025
This year’s festival will feature Santa’s Village, a festive holiday area where guests can:
• Take photos with Santa Claus and his cheerful helpers
• Drop off unwrapped toys for the Community Toy Drive (ages 5–12)
• Explore the Festival of Trees, where local groups decorate dazzling holiday trees
• Enjoy live kids’ entertainment, crafts, and holiday performances
Guests can also enjoy luchador wrestling, escaramuza horse performances, and a full lineup of live music and cultural entertainment. The festival runs from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM on both Saturday and Sunday.

A Free Community Celebration
As always, the Indio International Tamale Festival offers free admission, free parking, and free entertainment, ensuring everyone can take part in the celebration. Organized by Pickering Events LLC, producers of the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival presented by Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, the event continues to highlight Indio’s vibrant community spirit.
