Ford Sets New World Record For Largest Mustang Parade

Ford recently set a pretty impressive record with the world’s best-selling sports coupe, the Ford Mustang. Earlier this month Mustang owners from all over Europe help Ford set a new world record for the most Ford Mustang sport cars in a single parade, at Ford’s Lommel Proving Ground in Belgium

World Record Breaking Mustang Parade

On September 7th, the Mustang Parade at Ford’s proving ground featured over 1,300 Mustangs from every generation since the iconic sports car’s launch in 1964. Smashing its own record of 960 vehicles, set in Toluca, Mexico on December of 2017, this display of Mustang vehicles from generations as early as the early 1960’s, from all over Europe, were driven in an uninterrupted convoy with no more than 20 meters between each car. Vehicles and drivers also participated in a special choreography to celebrate Mustang’s 55th anniversary.

Ford’s Fanatics Across Throughout the UK

To say that the Mustang is world-famous is an understatement and across Europe this sports car owns this title more than any other of its kind. In fact, Ford recently announced that over 5,000 Mustangs were sold in Europe in the first half of 2019 and more Mustangs are sold in Belgium per head than any other country in Europe, which is a 3.7 percent increase compared with the same period last year. This makes it obvious why Ford’s Lommel Proving Ground the ideal location for the latest world record attempt.

History of the Ford Mustang

Born in the spring of 1964, Ford’s top-selling four door muscle car started its history making in a sales frenzy of more than 22,000 Mustangs in its first day of release. By the end of its first year, Ford had sold over 200,000 of its high-performing Ford Mustangs. By the end of the Mustang's first anniversary in early April 1965, Ford had sold 418,812 of these Ford performance cars. Over the next two years the Mustang became a performance-car legend with the introduction of the Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT500. Over the next 20+ years the Ford Mustang continued to skyrocket up the popularity charts and with the introduction of the Cobra this fame became hard to fathom. The turn of a century led to a real breakthrough for this historic Ford car. The year 2003 led to the first factory supercharged Mustang and in 2012 Ford made a bold move by introducing the most track-focused Mustang ever. What many called one of the greatest Mustangs ever released, the 2015 Ford Mustang GT350/GT350R took the handling improvements Ford brought to the sixth-generation Mustang and accentuated them with a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter engine that offers up to 526 HP. Today, the release of the 2019 Ford Mustang is designed to custom-fit the way you drive down to the last detail, which is probably why it was the Highest Ranked Midsize Sporty Car in Initial Quality.
