F-Series Hits 43rd Straight Year as America's Best-Selling Pickup

There are some things in life we take for
granted as they happen all the time, such as the sun rising in the morning and
setting in the evening, and the weather getting colder in winter. Another thing
a lot of us probably take for granted is the Ford F-Series of pickup trucks
being the best-selling pickup line in America, and for good reason.
More records
As we enter a new decade of the 21st
Century, the F-Series has proved to be America's best-selling pickup for what's
now a simply incredible 43 straight years. Just think about that for a moment;
43 straight years. For any brand to be on top of its class for a decade would
be considered an achievement, and two decades would be considered almost
extraordinary.
But 43 years is an illustration of total
and utter dominance in the market, and nothing gets to that point of dominance
and stays there for that amount of time unless it’s something special. Also, a
product has to constantly evolve and strive to improve year-in, year-out to
stay ahead of the competition to such a degree, and that's exactly what has
happened and continues to happen with the sensational Ford F-Series.
We all know pickups are big business these days,
but the F-Series is a brand that supersedes its own segment. As well as being
the 43rd straight year as America's best-selling truck, last year
was also the 38th straight year where the F-Series were the
biggest-selling of all vehicles. Last year was also the best year for sales of
Ford pickup trucks since 2005, with the new Ranger midsize pickup contributing
to overall truck sales of 986,097 units.
F-Series versatility
It certainly helps that today's F-Series
represents such a wide range of pickup truck capabilities and applications. Of
course, the sensational F-150 full-size, light-duty pickup leads the way as
America's best-selling vehicle. It would once have been hard to imagine, but
this incredible pickup outsells every model of sedan, hatch, sports car and
even SUV.
The gap between the F-Series and the
competition isn't even close though. The closest rival to the F-Series made big
gains with sales for the year up by around 18 percent on 2018, but that only
meant they sold around half as many trucks as the F-Series racked up.
For the "baby" of the F-Series,
the F-150
is still a seriously capable truck. With a maximum tow rating of 13,200 pounds
and a maximum payload of 7,050 pounds, it's easy to see why so many buyers
chose the 2019 Ford F-150.
If that's not enough for your needs, the
Super Duty models take capability to an entirely different level. For example,
if you go for a Super Duty pickup with the 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel
engine, it's possible to tow up to 37,000 pounds with an F-Series pickup.
