2018 Ford Focus Review

2018 Ford Focus

Finding the right compact vehicle in 2018 can actually be quite a challenge. One of the main reasons is the overwhelming popularity of SUVs, so fewer manufactures are creating small vehicles. Thankfully, the Ford dealers we represent at Southern California Ford Dealers offer an amazing selection of these sporty but economic cars, including the 2018 Ford Focus. The dynamic Ford Focus is available in 10 trim levels, 10 exterior colors, and even three hatchback models. Let's take a closer look at why the 2018 Ford Focus just might be the perfect compact vehicle for the always-challenging Southern California driving experience.

The first thing we need to mention is that the 2018 Ford Focus gives drivers a selection of four different engines. The first is the ultra-efficient 1.0-liter EcoBoost with Auto Start-Stop Technology engine. This first-ever three-cylinder engine from Ford comes standard on the Focus SE trim, and when paired with the six-speed manual transmission drivers can get you EPA est. MPG 30 city/40 hwy in fuel economy.* If that isn't the right engine, you can also choose from three others:

    • 2.0-liter Ti-VCT direct-injection I-4 engine that puts out 160 horsepower and 146 lb.-ft. of torque and is available on the 2018 Ford Focus ST
    • 2.3-liter EcoBoost Engine with Auto Start-Stop Technology
    • 107 kW Permanent Magnet Electric Traction Motor with an optional 240-Volt/30-Amp Home Charging Station

Despite its smaller size, the Ford Focus seats up to five and can be equipped with the Control Blade independent rear suspension with stabilizer bar, Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring, electric power-assisted steering, and a six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission with SelectShift.

The 2018 Ford Focus comes with the latest standard and available safety features such as the Safety Canopy System. Some of the other outstanding protection features include:

  • Driver and passenger dual-stage airbag supplemental restraints
  • Front seat outboard seatbelts with pre-tensioners, energy management retractors and seatbelt usage sensors.
  • Driver seat position sensor.
  • Front passenger sensing system.
  • Passenger airbag status indicator.
  • Front crash severity sensors

If that wasn't enough, drivers can also enjoy the standard rear view camera, AdvanceTrac with Electronic Stability Control, SecuriLock Passive anti-theft system, and remote keyless entry.

Comfort and Technology

As with all new Ford vehicles available from our participating dealerships, the Ford Focus brings tons of connectivity, technology, and comfort to the table. The upgraded interior of the 2018 Ford Focus can include such limited-edition perks like carbon-fiber accents around the performance gauges, door grab handle, and emergency brake handle as well as leather-trimmed heated RECARO sport seats with Miko-Dinamica inserts. To keep you on the cutting-edge of automotive technology, the Ford Focus offers a number of interesting driver-assist features such as Reverse Sensing System, Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert, Lane-Keeping System, active park assist, and SYNC3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. If you're not already a fan, you'll want to download the MyFord Mobile app that lets users accomplish a wide range of tasks like trip planning and even monitoring the charge on your Ford Focus EV all from the convenience of a smartphone.

On plug-in hybrid models and electric models, fuel economy is stated in MPGe. MPGe is the EPA equivalent measure of gasoline fuel efficiency for electric mode operation.
