While the SUV market is continuing to grow in North America, miniature versions of the once popular beastly automobile are beginning to take over. Who better to welcome to market the newest in fun, capable and connected Compact SUV’s than Ford? Say hello to our new little friend the 2018 EcoSport.
While it has been available in the Asian market for some time, the rise of the EcoSports fame overseas inspired the automaker to bring the crossover to North America.
One of the few vehicles to be introduced in a small, but mighty way – through Snapchat, the EcoSport is a mini, but mighty vehicle that is offered with either a 1.0-liter three-cylinder or a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with lots of optional features. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel-drive being available with the 2.0-liter engine.
The sporty SES EcoSport trim features intelligent all-wheel-drive, a sport-tuned suspension, sport seats, copper interior accents, and more.
A vehicle like this often gives the impression of limited space, but this isn’t the case with the 2018 EcoSport. With as many as 30 stowage pockets, bins, hooks and a cargo management system at the rear, which features a movable floor board and fold-away second-row seats to provide a flat area for moving furniture and other larger items, you couldn’t ask for a more capable mini-SUV model.
Ford’s new mini-SUV is not only mighty, but connected. Featuring two fast-charging USB ports to ensure owners’ devices are always juiced. An available 110-volt outlet is also positioned behind the center console and another 12-volt outlet allows rear-seat passengers to stay plugged in as well. Like many Ford models, the newest edition in mini SUV’s also includes Ford’s SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system. Faster, more intuitive and easier to use, the system provides more conversational voice recognition and enhanced response to driver commands.
Optimized for hands-free use, SYNC 3 for EcoSport is coupled with a touch screen that gives front-row passengers easy access to operate available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto commands, and B&O PLAY audio settings.
This system even enables the driver with the ability to start, lock, unlock and locate their vehicle from almost anywhere using available SYNC Connect with FordPass mobile app. The use of this app gives owners the opportunity to view vehicle information, such as the fuel level and odometer reading, when not in the vehicle.
While the 2018 EcoSport has yet to roll onto the showroom floor, keep a close eye on our inventory, or give us a call to be the first in line for the soon to be widespread mini-SUV.
