2017 Ford C MAX For Sale in Sounthern California
2017 Ford C-Max is a compact multi-purpose vehicle that is only available with a hybrid gas-electric propulsion system. It's another Ford that first came to market in Europe before it eventually found its way over here. However, while it's been on sale in Europe as a gas or diesel MPV since 2003, it's only been with us since the 2013 model year and it’s a hybrid-only offering that's also available as a plug-in hybrid in its C-max Energi form.
The chances are that most people who consider buying a vehicle like this will have fuel economy at the top of their list of priorities for their new vehicle, whether it's for financial reasons, environmental concerns or both. The thing about the 2017 Ford C-Max though, is that this is first and foremost a great family vehicle that happens to be really economical to run. This isn’t one of those vehicles that delivers excellent economy ratings but is short on space, practicality, versatility, comfort and features. Think of the C-Max as an extremely capable family vehicle that also comes with impressive fuel economy and you'll be approaching it in the right way. The EPA ratings for the 2017 model year haven't been published at the time of writing, but the 2016 model was rated at an impressive 42 mpg in the city, 37 mpg on the highway and 40 mpg combined.*
The 2017 Ford C-Max comes in SE and Titanium trims, and standard equipment includes: 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, a six-speaker audio system with USB and auxiliary input jacks, keyless entry, an illuminated glove box and plenty more. All C-Max models also feature Ford's SmartGauge digital display system with InfoGuide screens, which is a collection of information panels giving the driver the option of showing only the information on the car's operations and energy usage that's wanted.
By springing the extra for the top-level Titanium trim, you then also get Ford's excellent Sync 3 infotainment system, different 17-inch machined aluminum alloy wheels, leather-trimmed front seats, a 10-way power adjustable front passenger seat, keyless ignition with proximity sensing, rain-sensing wipers, reversing sensors and ambient LED interior lighting.
At the heart of the 2017 Ford C-Max is the same hybrid propulsion system found in the C-Max Energi, except there's no option to plug this one in and therefore the battery pack is a smaller, lighter 1.4-kwh unit instead of the larger, heavier 7.6-kwh battery in the Energi. The powerplant itself is a system comprising of a 2.0-liter inline-four gasoline engine coupled to a pair of electric motors, which has a combined power rating as high as 195 horsepower.
Even though the C-Max is a mass-market model and not a luxury offering, it's the refinement it delivers that really sets the C-Max apart from crossover utility vehicle rivals of a similar size. The C-Max is effectively the European take on a minivan, but without the third-row seating most American vans see as a must-have feature. The ride quality has a firm but still comfortable feel about it, and there's an abundance of sound insulation as well as active noise cancellation keeping road and engine noise to an absolute minimum. It really is hard to think of many other compact vehicles that can claim to be anything like this smooth and capacious, while still delivering anything resembling the fuel economy of the C-Max.
