2020 Ford Ranger LARIAT Features and Specs

If you’re looking for a new midsize pickup
truck, you're probably considering a new Ford Ranger. It's a pickup that's
enjoyed massive success in markets around the world before the nameplate
finally got a re-launch here in the US, but which one should you go for? Here
we try to help you decide by taking a closer look at one model, in particular,
the top-of-the-range 2020 Ford Ranger Lariat.
Powertrain
The new Ranger Ford trucks are a thoroughly
modern take on the popular pickup truck formula, and the engine under the hood
of the Ford Ranger Lariat is appropriately contemporary. The unit in question
is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo-four, which develops a healthy 270 horsepower and
310 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine features stop/start technology for improving
fuel economy and cutting emissions, and the power is sent to the front wheels
in standard form through Ford's sensational 10-speed automatic transmission.
Of course, all-wheel-drive is an available
option, but it needs noting that it's a part-time system that's designed for
off-road and isn’t meant for use on dry pavement.
Exterior styling
Although the Lariat is the top-of-the-range
model and looks the part even in its standard form, there are several ways of
dressing up the truck. As well as the standard model, the Lariat is also
available with a Chrome Package, a Sport and FX4 Off-Road Package, or a Black
Appearance and FX4 Off-Road Package.
The Lariat is available as a SuperCrew with
a five-foot box or as a SuperCab with a six-foot box. Both versions are
standard rear-wheel-drive with all-wheel-drive available.
Standard exterior features include
body-color door handles, tailgate handles and side-view mirror caps; chrome
fender vent surrounds; chrome grille bars with chrome surround LED headlamps,
fog lamps, cargo lamp, and taillights; power-folding side-view mirrors with
power, heated glass, integrated turn signal indicators, and security approach
lamps.
Interior features
Inside the Lariat, you'll enjoy the
standard dual-zone climate control; ambient lighting; auto-dimming rearview
mirror; carpeted floor mats; dual 4.2-inch productivity screens in the
instrument cluster; intelligent access with push-button start; steering wheel,
door-trim inserts and shift knob that are leather-wrapped; a manual sliding
rear window with defroster; SiriusXM and a universal garage door opener. The
Lariat comes standard with eight-way power, heated leather seats in the front,
and the rear seats are also leather-trimmed for that premium look and feel.
Infotainment and connectivity
Infotainment is taken care of by a Ford
SYNC® 3 system that has an 8-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen and features
911 Assist, AppLink, Bluetooth connectivity, a pair of smart-charging USB
ports, navigation, and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility. The
infotainment is completed with the inclusion of FordPass Connect™ with a
4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot for ultimate connectivity.
Safety features
The Ranger Lariat has all the airbags, ABS
and other safety features you’d expect from a modern pickup truck, but it also
gets a healthy dose of Ford Co-Pilot360™ technology too.
This includes Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking; a Rear View
Camera with Dynamic Hitch Assist; Auto High-Beams; a Blind Spot Information System
with Trailer Coverage and Cross-Traffic Alert, a Lane-Keeping System, Adaptive
Cruise Control and so much more!
