New 2020 Ford Explorer Limited Hybrid boasts a 500-mile driving range
America’s all-time best-selling SUV, the Ford Explorer, is now available as a brand-new Limited Hybrid model. The adventure-ready machine is capable of traveling over 500 miles** on a single tank, making it the perfect choice for family road trips.
Introducing the 2019 Ford Explorer Limited Hybrid
The Ford Explorer Limited Hybrid is a capable SUV with premium amenities and a remarkably efficient powertrain.
Class-leading power and efficiency
A 3.3L V6 hybrid engine and 10-speed automatic transmission give the Ford Explorer Limited Hybrid its impressive range. Rear-wheel drive models can achieve an EPA-estimated range of 500-mile** using an average-sized 18-gallon tank.
Best of all, the specially-designed lithium-ion battery is built into the chassis below the cargo area, so you don’t have to give up interior space.
The powertrain is extremely efficient as well. Rear-wheel drive models have EPA-estimated ratings of 27 mpg city/29 mpg highway/28 mpg combined*. Meanwhile, four-wheel drive-equipped vehicles have EPA-estimated ratings of 23 mpg city/26 mpg highway/25 mpg combined*.
But the Explorer isn’t just efficient – it’s powerful, too. The hybrid engine turns our 318 horsepower and allows the SUV to tow up to 5,000 lbs.¹ when properly equipped. Intelligent 4WD is also available for maximum capability.
“Explorer is the ultimate family adventure vehicle – and fewer pit stops is one of the latest reasons why,” said Bill Gubing, Explorer chief engineer. “Explorer provides space for the whole family and their gear, it’s got great towing capability, and now it has range like no Explorer before.”
With the addition of the Limited Hybrid model, the Ford Explorer is now one of the most technologically advanced SUVs on the planet.
Distinctive modern styling
Like the rest of the Explorer lineup, the Limited Hybrid features a dynamic exterior design. The hyper-efficient SUV also has a bright silver grille with painted mesh insert and a hands-free foot-activated power liftgate.
Premium six-passenger cabin
The Ford Explorer Limited Hybrid has all the amenities found on the traditional Limited model. Inside the spacious six-passenger cabin, you’ll find features like ambient lighting, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats and heated second-row seats. The rear seats, which are equipped with PowerFold technology, fold flat with just a push of a button.
Naturally, a vehicle as sophisticated as the Ford Explorer Limited comes jam-packed with the latest technology. Features like a premium B&O Sound System, wireless device charging, and a household-style 100-volt outlet are right at your fingertips.
The latest advanced driver assistant systems (ADAS) come standard inside the Ford Co-Pilot 360 Assist+ suite. The bundle includes everything found in the standard Ford CoPilot360 package, plus, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control and Evasive Steering Assist. A 360-degree camera is also onboard.
