2020 Ford Edge ST Features and Specs

Midsize SUVs really are popular with buyers
all around the world these days, but few are doing as well as the Ford Edge
because it's enjoying success both here in the US and in Europe and elsewhere.
As one of only a handful of mass-market SUV models that sells in the US and
Europe with the same name and branding, it hasn’t had to endure major
alterations to appeal to those different audiences. Part of the ongoing success
of the Edge is likely to be down to the appeal of the fabulous new Ford Edge ST
trim level, so let's take a look at the 2020 Ford Edge ST to see what makes it
so desirable.
Exterior
styling
With a refined look, stylish and quality
craftsmanship, the Edge
really is a bit of a stunner with even more sporty and contemporary styling
than the rest of the lineup. Despite its overtly sporty styling, there's no
missing the fact this is still, first and foremost, very much an SUV. This is
no dressed-up, tall, wagon-like pseudo-SUV by any means. Words such as
"polarizing" can be applied to a number of the Ford's Japanese
rivals, but not here.
The
ST's place in the lineup
Buyers have four different trim levels to
choose from in the 2020 Edge lineup, but you only have to take a quick glance
at the Ford Edge ST to see it's quite obviously the top-of-the-range model.
While the Titanium is close in terms of comfort and luxury, the ST goes down an
unashamedly sportier route.
Powertrain
The standard 2.0-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo,
four-cylinder unit in the rest of the lineup is very capable with its 250
horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque, which goes to the front or all four
wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, but the ST's powertrain
is at another level altogether.
Under the hood of the ST is a 2.7-liter
twin-turbo EcoBoost V-6, and if you want performance in a midsize crossover SUV
you get it here and then some with a sensational 335 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft.
of torque, which goes exclusively to all four wheels through an eight-speed
automatic transmission.
Fuel
economy
With responsive performance and excellent
fuel efficiency the 2020 Ford Edge has an EPA-estimated 21 city and 29 highway
mpg in fuel economy.
Features
and equipment
The ST sits apart from the other Ford SUVs
in thanks to its standard sport-tuned suspension, 20-inch alloys, sports seats,
and that wonderful V-6 twin-turbo engine and standard all-wheel drive. However,
it checks all the luxury and technology boxes too. Standard ST equipment also
includes ambient lighting, wireless device charging, a premium Bang &
Olufsen sound system, navigation, SYNC 3 infotainment, heated front seats,
leather upholstery, and much, much more.
