All-new 2018 F-150 Ford Raptor
If everybody knows the Ford F-150, everyone who knows about trucks knows exactly what to expect when they hear of a Ford Raptor for sale. From its iconic F-150 Raptor grille to its massive wheels and overtly capable off-road suspension, a number of the 2018 Ford Raptor specs are reasonably well known. But if you’re not fully aware of the joys the formidable truck has to offer, here's a few things you can expect when you’re looking at a 2018 Ford Raptor for sale.
Despite having way more than its fair share of capability, the Raptor is first and foremost about the way it looks. Although the regular F-150 got a bit of a Super Duty makeover this year, the Raptor remains relatively unchanged from 2017. That's not a bad thing by any means though as there isn’t another truck in the world that rolls off the production line looking anything like as good as this. There isn’t a color choice that doesn’t look great and will make things difficult for someone with an F-150 Raptor for sale, but it's hard to think of one. It looks fabulous in the Lightning Blue it so often wears in publicity shots, but it looks even meaner in Lead Foot or Shadow Black. This is big, brash, unashamedly macho truck, which is a big part of its enduring success.
Engine and performance
The regular F-150's standard powerplant is impressive with its 375 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, but the Raptor ups the power ante to 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. that wouldn’t be out of place in a serious heavy-duty truck. The ten-speed automatic transmission the Raptor had all to itself until this year is still in situ, and of course, there's no such thing as a Raptor with anything other than four-wheel drive. Six different drive modes available to the driver, which even includes a Baja mode for destroying sand dunes, and obviously there are the special knobby tires for the most serious of off-roading.
Features and equipment
The Raptor is an off-road monster designed for getting down and dirty in the most challenging environments, but inside its as comfortable, luxurious and well-equipped as many prestige sedans. Bucket seats come standard with an eight-way adjustable driver's seat, and the standard unique cloth can be upgraded to more opulent perforated leather. Manual single-zone air conditioning is included, but that can also be upgraded if you want a dual-zone electronic automated temperature control system instead. Ford Sync with AppLink is the standard infotainment system, and also included is an AM/FM radio with a single CD and SiriusXM Satellite Radio. Other standard features include a reverse sensing system, MyKey, unique Ford Performance aluminum scuff plates, unique interior trim accents, and lots more.
The amount of available power makes the latest Raptor a fabulous truck on the pavement, but the fun really starts when the pavement runs out and the Raptor faces considerably more challenging trails. The FOX Racing Shox, front performance bumper, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, heavy-duty front and engine skid plates and other performance upgrades mean this is a truck that can take you places other trucks would never dream of attempting to reach. But the truth is most of us would probably bottle-out long before the Raptor ever gets anywhere near its limits.
