Review Summary of the 2017 Ford Flex

2017 Ford Flex

Station wagons are quickly becoming a thing of the past. Luckily, your Southern CA Ford Dealers are well aware of this and as a result are rolling in the funky new answer – the 2017 Ford Flex. As the experts at Car and Driver point out, “the Flex is Ford’s answer to those seeking a modern version of the old-school station wagon.”

Available with two V6 engine types this updated seven-passenger vehicle includes all of the bells and whistles necessary to set this groovy SUV crossover apart from the competition.

Don’t just take our word for it though, check out what the automotive experts are saying about Ford’s amped-up wagon.

Often referring to the Ford Flex as “a small school bus that feels like a car but seats seven” researchers with AutoBlog all agree that although the Flex is limited to carrying no more than seven passengers “more comfortably than some crossovers. The wheelbase of 118-inches is eight inches longer than a Honda Pilot, but one inch shorter than a Chevy Traverse, and both the Pilot and Traverse have better third-row accommodations, but the Flex focuses on second-row comfort and car-like driving dynamics.”

The experts at Edmunds are also fans of the all-new Ford Flex. “The Flex is still one of the more distinctive vehicles on the road. Its squared-off appearance and spacious third row seating draw comparisons to a minivan, but conventional rear doors and minimal cargo space behind the third row reveal that the Flex is actually more like a crossover SUV or big wagon. The Flex's bold styling isn't its only unusual characteristic. The Flex's base V6 makes power typical for a three-row crossover, but a 365 HP turbocharged V6 is also available, ensuring that passing maneuvers on a freeway with a cabin full of passengers will be no problem at all.”

Like most vehicles of this nature, the large Flex also offers ample cargo room, which also has its fans at Edmunds intrigued. “Behind the rear seatbacks, you'll find up to 20 cubic feet of cargo space. If you keep the third row folded flat when it's not in use, you'll have a much handier 43.2 cubes at your disposal, while folding down both rear rows opens up 83.2 cubes. These figures are a bit less than what you'll find in some rival SUVs, but the Flex is still highly functional thanks to its squared-off roofline.”

Along with those who spend their days reviewing the latest and greatest vehicles on the road today, these are also those who spend their days driving Ford’s beast of an SUV like Candace Derickx. “The first time I test drove the Ford Flex the deal was sealed. This was the car I was officially lusting after. The second time I drove one? Well, that’s when my plans of running away with it and living happily ever after were hatched.”
