The Ford Explorer has been a mainstay of the Ford lineup since it was first introduced as a 1991 model. The 2018 Ford Explorer from your Southern California Ford Dealers is the current model of Ford’s mid-size three-row SUV. More than 7,000,000 Ford Explorers have been sold since those early days. It currently outsells all of its SUV competitors by a wide margin, making the Explorer the sales leader in the mid-size three-row SUV segment.
The 2018 Ford Explorer features more technology, freshened styling, and more consumer choices. This freshly updated version is intended to keep the Explorer at the head of its SUV class, which continues to grow in volume as both young families and older adults move away from sedans and toward the SUV body style.
Explorer engine options start with the 3.5L V6 engine with 290 horsepower, which is standard on Explorer and Explorer XLT, and is optional on Explorer Limited. A 2.3L EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 280 horsepower is standard on the Explorer Limited, and is optional on Explorer and Explorer XLT. The top engine is a 3.5L turbo V6 with 365 horsepower, and is standard on Explorer Sport and Explorer Platinum.
Ford’s intelligent all-wheel drive is available on Explorer, Explorer XLT, and Explorer Limited. It is standard on Explorer Sport and Explorer Platinum.
The 2018 Explorer is available with a variety of driver assistance technologies. These include enhanced active park assist, which helps with parallel and perpendicular parking; park-out assist, which helps with pulling out of parallel parking spots; plus intelligent all-wheel drive with Terrain Management System.
For 2018, the Explorer also offers a new Safe and Smart Package that takes several essential driver assistance features and combines them into a single value-packed package. These include:
• Adaptive Cruise Control
• Blind Spot Information System
• Cross-Traffic Alert
• Lane-Keeping System
• Auto High-Beams
• Rain-Sensing Wipers
SYNC Connect is another featured technology on the 2018 Ford Explorer. This lets owners use the FordPass app on their phones to connect remotely with the 2018 Explorer. FordPass functions include locking, unlocking, and starting the vehicle, pinpointing the vehicle’s location, and accessing diagnostic information on the vehicle’s systems.
The 2018 Ford Explorer will offer a built-in 4G LTE modem with Wi-Fi hotspot. It will support up to ten different devices at one time, at distances up to fifty feet from the Explorer.
