Available EcoBoost® Engines
The Escape offers two available EcoBoost engines that deliver no-compromise performance. The 1.6L EcoBoost® I-4 engine* has an EPA-estimated rating of 32 highway mpg.* And the available 2.0L EcoBoost I-4, engineered for higher performance, delivers 240 horsepower.** Compared with a standard port-injection engine, EcoBoost technology helps produce a cooler, denser fuel-injection charge that generates more power per every drop of fuel.
*EPA-estimated rating of 23 city/32 hwy/26 combined, FWD. Actual mileage will vary.
**Using 93-octane fuel.
The shape of the Ford Escape doesn’t just look great – it’s also designed to reduce drag on the vehicle body that wind resistance produces. And as part of the total airflow management approach to design, Active Grille Shutters* are standard. When closed, they reduce aerodynamic drag caused by air traveling through the radiator.
*Not available with optional 2.0L EcoBoost® engine.
6-Speed SelectShift® Automatic Transmission
The standard 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission on the Escape adds a little fun to your drive with a switch on the gear shift knob that lets you easily and quickly shift gears without having to engage the clutch.
Class-Exclusive* Hands-Free, Foot-Activated Liftgate
With the Intelligent Access key in your pocket or purse, just kick your foot under the bumper and the class-exclusive* available hands-free, foot-activated liftgate automatically opens — making it easier to load and unload cargo. You can also adjust the liftgate height, which is helpful for lower overhangs.
*Class is Small Utilities.

And that’s just for starters.
Active Park Assist
Available Active Park Assist* is designed to help make parallel parking a breeze. While driving slowly near parking spots, simply activate this feature and it scans for available parking spots. Ultrasonic sensors measure the distance to the curb and other parked cars. Once a big enough spot is identified, you’re signaled to stop and accept the system’s assistance. With a few actions on your part – shifting, accelerating and braking – the vehicle can smoothly parallel park into place.
*Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver’s judgment.
BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert
The available BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert* helps make driving more convenient. It uses radar to identify if a vehicle is detected in your blind spot and alerts you with an indicator light in the appropriate exterior mirror. Cross-traffic alert also uses radar to watch for traffic behind you as you’re slowly backing out of a parking spot or driveway. If cross-traffic sensors detect a vehicle approaching from up to 15 yards away, you will be audibly and visually alerted.
*Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver’s judgment.
Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start
Unlocking, locking and starting your Escape is a breeze, thanks to available Intelligent Access with push-button start. To unlock the doors, with the key fob in your pocket or purse, simply touch the driver’s side door handle. To lock the doors, again, simply touch the door handle. To start the vehicle, with the key fob still in your pocket or purse, press the brake pedal and then the start button. Just shift into gear and go.
Audio System from Sony®
The available Audio System from Sony® features 390 watts of power, 10 high-quality premium speakers and a dual-channel subwoofer. The system includes HD Radio™ Technology for static-free, razor-sharp sound reception. One especially innovative feature is iTunes® Tagging. You simply hit the “Tag” button when you hear a song you like on your local FM HD Radio station. Song information will be saved for later preview and purchase or direct buy if your device is wireless-enabled and connected to the Internet.

The Ford Escape has several safety features, that help provide peace of mind. That includes standard AdvanceTrac® with RSC® (Roll Stability Control™)39 with Curve Control. Curve Control that will slow you down when it senses that you’re going too fast for a particular curve. The standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System alerts you when your tires are underinflated (not available on spare tire). To help protect you in a collision, Escape features the Personal Safety System,™ next-generation dual-stage driver and front-passenger airbags,* a driver’s knee airbag, and front-seat-mounted side airbags. There’s also the Safety Canopy® System with two-row side-curtain airbags.
*Always wear your safety belt and secure children in the rear seat.
Fold both rear seat backs for a flat load surface to transport items large and small. With 67.8 cu. ft. of space with the rear seats folded, the Escape can easily accommodate all types of cargo. Don’t need all that space? Fold down either side of the 60/40 split rear seat and you can still seat one or two rear passengers and have additional space. If you’re carrying items such as luggage, leave the seats up and you have 34.3 cu. ft. of space. On select models, the load floor is adjustable. Set it in the high position and you have a flat load floor when the seats are folded down. In its low position, you’ll have additional cargo room.
Available Intelligent 4WD System
Whether you’re driving on a rain-slick or snow-covered road, the available Intelligent 4WD System is monitoring traction and cornering conditions every 16 milliseconds and automatically adjusting torque distribution where needed.
3,500-lb. Towing Capacity
The Escape with the available 2.0L EcoBoost® I-4 engine can tow up to 3,500 lbs. when equipped with the Class II Trailer Tow Package. The Escape also has trailer sway control to help you tow more confidently. This feature automatically determines from the motion of the vehicle if the trailer is swaying and takes measures, such as applying precise braking or reduced engine torque, to help keep both the vehicle and the trailer under control.39.
Torque Vectoring Control
To help hold the road better while accelerating through a corner, Torque Vectoring Control simultaneously adjusts the speed between the front wheels to enhance cornering agility and reduce understeer. G-forces in a corner transfer more traction to your outside tires than to your inside ones. Torque Vectoring Control enhances that by transferring torque to the wheels that have the most grip. It reduces understeer, forcing the front end to hug the inside of each curve.
Curve Control can slow your vehicle down when it senses that you’re going too fast for a particular curve. Employing throttle reduction and four-wheel braking intervention, it helps you maintain control around the curves. Curve Control is effective on dry or wet pavement and is particularly useful when you are entering or exiting freeway off- or on-ramps with too much speed.
The Ford kinetic approach to design makes the Escape appear to be in motion even when parked. Adding to the sleek appearance are several design cues, including a prominent trapezoidal-shaped lower grille and sculpted wheel arches. The elongated headlamps and taillamps, along with subtle Z-shaped lines, sporty spoiler and bright dual exhaust tips (standard on the SE and the Titanium models), complete the look. Then there are the features you won’t see – the sustainable ones. For example, the hood insulation on the Escape is constructed of postindustrial fiberglass recycled material.
The Ford Escape features an interior that is modern and sophisticated, optimizing seating comfort and ergonomic convenience. Interior color choices include Charcoal Black on Charcoal Black or Charcoal Black on Medium Light Stone.
This interior is also eco-conscious. More than 10 lbs. of recovered cotton from jeans, sweaters, T-shirts and other items – material that otherwise would be sent to a landfill – is used in sound-absorption material throughout the vehicle. The carpet in all models is manufactured from a blend of postindustrial polyester fibers, which reduces the need for new raw materials and helps eliminate waste. The postconsumer fibers are derived from recycled plastic bottles. In total, about 25 recycled 20-ounce bottles are in the carpeting.
